Biography

Julie Speicher graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Biology from Clarion University, and immediately obtained a technician position at a stem cell research center in Houston TX.  After spending a year there, she decided to move back home and obtained a job working as a tech in the Pediatric Surgery Department at Rangos Research Center of Children’s Hospital. She has been actively participating in the progression of several different research projects involving pancreatic regeneration and cancer. Her skills of micro dissection and animal colony maintenance are well established by her experiences gathered during these past three years of working within Dr. Farzad Esni’s lab. During the time that she is not present working in the lab or with the animal colony; she can either be found creating culinary delights within her kitchen at home, out on the bicycle trails that encompass Pittsburgh or hanging out with her husband Tim and cats Fiona and Darby.  She is currently enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh, and is going for her Masters degree in Health and Physical Activity. Her goals for a future career are to become a health and fitness coach.
